Solvent ink cartridges such as HP2580, HP2590, and General’s IQ990, are classified as hazardous materials due the fact that the main ingredient is alcohol. There are strict regulations for shipping haz-mat items. In fact, you have to be a certified haz-mat shipper (which we are) in order to send these items. The US Postal Service does not allow ANY hazardous materials to be sent. UPS, FedEx, and DHL all have various regulations for shipping these dangerous goods. Some manufactures of thermal inkjet printing equipment encode special firmware on their printers that only recognize ink cartridges that have their special software encoded on it. Meaning, ink cartridges purchased elsewhere (including InkCartridgesETC) will not work. Hence the name “managed ink”.

Effective April 30, 2021 HP has discontinued producing their Spot Blue Ink (C6170A). Having previously discontinued their Spot Red ink in 2018, HP now does not offer any colored inks in 45A style cartridges. So, we have partnered with a major digital ink manufacturer in South Carolina and had them formulate our own ETC Brand Spot Blue and Spot Red ink cartridges.
